"Our biggest objective in sleep training was to improve the quality and length of Cooper’s day naps. Cooper was a serial cat-napper, only sleeping for 20–40 minutes at a time unless he was being held or napping on the go.  His naps also always seemed to coincide with other obligations, such as kindy drop-offs/pick-ups, so when he did nap at home, I would almost always have to disrupt his sleep. At the end of the day, he would be overtired and hard to settle at bedtime.  Emily used her expert knowledge and holistic, gentle approach to formulate a sleep plan that works around our engagements while ensuring that Cooper is still having age-appropriate wake windows and long enough naps to get the restorative benefits of sleep.  Cooper is now consistently taking two naps a day, including a 1.5–2.0 hour nap in the middle of the day, which has been transformative! It allows me some much-needed time to get things done or simply rest when I need it. Having this time to myself to ‘just be’ has been beneficial for the entire family, as my mood is greatly improved.  Emily also navigated us through dropping the third nap, which has reduced our overnight wakes from two, sometimes three, down to one, meaning more quality sleep for me!
